Han River and Parks

Banpo Bridge

One of the most popular things to do is hang out around the Han River with friends. You can order food to where you are and enjoy the outdoors with your friends. One of the big attractions on the Han River is Banpo Bridge.

This may seem like a weird place to go but this bridge is the world’s longest bridge fountain which is called the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain. The fountain is 1,140 meters(3,740 feet) long and has 380 nozzles. Each nozzle also has color changing lights which are where the rainbow in the name comes from. Fun Fact: the water for the fountain is actually coming directly from the river, which causes the water to be recycled. This demonstrates Seoul’s eco-friendliness.

Another popular thing to do is to rent bikes and ride around the river. There is a trail you can follow that takes you around the 80 kilometers of paths on the river (40 per side). There are 30 bridges that span the river and each one is different. There are multiple places to rent bikes along the river and you should find the closest one to you. While you don’t need to bike the whole trail it does take about 5 hours to complete. It is a very beautiful trail but may not be for everyone.

Parks

Another popular thing to do is to go hang out in parks, as many of them are free, even national parks! This is something that is different than in the USA since you normally have to pay to visit some parks. There is a huge variety of parks you can visit in Seoul and each offers a different experience.

One of the popular parks in Seoul is the Botanical Park which has both an indoor and outdoor part. You do have to pay to go to the indoor area but the outdoor park is free! Another awesome park is Olympic Park in Jamsil. It is one of the easiest parks to get to since it's right by a subway station and because it is so big. You can also get good pictures of Lotte Tower which we talked about in Top 10 Areas and Places to Visit in Seoul. The park is also right next to World Cup Stadium which is something you should go see if you are a Soccer (Football) fan as this stadium hosted the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
