Ganghwado Island

What is it?

Ganghwado is the fifth biggest island in Korea and is very hard to visit it all in one day. The island offers a bunch of different things to do like going to the Haeden Museum of art, Ganghwa Anglican Church of Korea, and even another palace named Yongheunggung Palace. If you are more into trendy places like cafes, there is a variety of them here. You can go to the Ganghwa Peace Observation deck where you can get a view of some parts of North Korea. If you want to do a temple stay outside of Seoul you can come to do one at Jeondeungsa Temple located on the island. When you visit here make sure to keep an eye on the bus schedule as they come at very spread out intervals.

Hours: The island is open 24/7 but different attractions have different open hours.

Cost: Every activity on the island differs in cost but some are free. Also, know that the island is pretty big so you will have to pay a bit for transportation by bus.

Location: 394, Ganghwa-daero, Ganghwa-eup, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon [23037]

How far from Seoul is it? 60 kilometers northwest of Seoul. It will take about 2 hours to get there.

How to get there?

Get to Sincheon subway station and go to the Sincheon bus terminal and take bus 3000 to Ganghwa-eup station. This will take about one and a half hours to arrive at the island. On the island, there are different busses to get to the different sights.
