However, there are more villages than Bukhon in Seoul, at least 6 others in the area. You may be wondering why you should go visit a hanok village and the answer is you do not have to if you don’t want to. However, if you want to be able to get the most of your experience in Seoul you should come to visit at least one village.

There are many different ways to enjoy these villages, one is staying in a guesthouse. Not all villages offer this so it's best you do your research and make reservations ahead of time. There is a variety of them in Korea and one of the best known is Bukchon Hanok village which you can walk around here after it is closed but you need to be respectful as people do live here.

If you go during the hours it is open there are different activities for you to do in the village. You will be able to experience an aspect of traditional Korean culture by going to workshops in the village which is something you should do if you are interested in Korean culture and history. These can include tea ceremonies, making kimchi, calligraphy, fan illustrations, playing traditional Korean games, and more.

The village is also a popular place to visit while wearing hanbok as you can get amazing pictures but also because these houses are like the ones that were around in the Joseon Dynasty.
