Convenience stores can be found at literally every corner in Seoul, and you can find almost everything there, from groceries to toiletries, and they are usually open 24 hours every day. Personally, I love the broad selection of sweet, spicy, and salty snacks those stores have to offer, but it can be pretty hard to find food that is also good for your health. So here I present you my 5 favorite healthy snacks to buy at the convenience store.
Dried Sweet Potato
Dried sweet potato is a snack you will find in almost every convenience store. The Korean name for sweet potato is ‘고구마’ and it is rich in vitamins and minerals, making it very nutritious.
Dried Seaweed
Dried seaweed is also a quite common snack in Korea. Only plain dried seaweed with salt may not seem very tasty, but it is actually very delicious. It is not only rich in vitamins and minerals like sweet potato, but also helpful when losing weight since it can delay your hunger and fill you up.
Assorted nuts and berries
Nuts and berries are universally known to be very healthy and you can find small packages of mixed nuts and berries at convenience stores that normally don’t contain added sugar or other harmful additives. Also being called ‘Brain Food’, they will provide you with all the nutrients that your brain needs to thrive during study or work sessions.
Plain Soymilk
Soy milk is a very popular cow milk substitute in Korea and if you drink the plain unsweetened version, this plant-based product is actually a very healthy drink. Since soy is rich in protein, it is also a very nice snack to still your hunger.
Boiled Eggs
Eggs are known to be a superfood, making it the perfect healthy snack for in between meals, during studying or when you don’t have time for a proper meal. Boiled eggs are sold at almost every convenience store in Korea and they are, like soy milk, a very good source of protein, thus also being very good food for dieting.
